Case Study: Hyde Park House Project
Project Overview
The Hyde Park House Project was a significant commercial undertaking for Lenta Letting Agents, focusing on a comprehensive exterior and interior renovation. The primary goal was to enhance the building’s durability, aesthetic appeal, and long-term performance, while minimising future maintenance requirements.
The Challenge
The existing structure at Hyde Park House presented several key challenges:
- Deteriorating Exterior: The building’s facade, particularly the timber curtain walling, was showing significant signs of wear and deterioration, compromising both its appearance and structural integrity.
- Maintenance Burden: The original materials and finishes likely required frequent and costly maintenance, which Lenta Letting Agents aimed to reduce.
- Outdated Aesthetics: The overall look of the building was outdated, requiring a modern update to align with contemporary commercial standards and improve its market appeal.
The Solution
Our team implemented a multi-faceted approach to address these challenges, combining advanced materials and collaborative design:
- SPS Envirowall Insulated System: For the building’s exterior, we strategically incorporated the SPS Envirowall insulated system. This choice was driven by its:
– Enhanced Durability: Ensuring a long-lasting and robust facade capable of withstanding environmental elements.
– Outstanding Flexibility: Allowing for seamless application and adaptation to the building’s existing structure.
– Through-Coloured Finish: A key feature that significantly minimises the need for repainting and reduces ongoing maintenance costs, as the colour is integral to the material.
- Modern Curtain Walling Replacement: We engaged in close collaboration with the project architect to design and implement a modern solution for the failing timber curtain wall. This involved replacing it with a high-performance, contemporary aluminium system, which offers superior longevity, weather resistance, and a sleek, updated appearance.
- Internal Glass Wall Installation: To further enhance the building’s interior aesthetics and functionality, a new internal glass wall was installed. This addition improved the flow of natural light, created a more open and modern internal environment, and contributed to an overall improved performance of the space.
Outcome
The Hyde Park House Project was successfully completed within the 8-month duration and within the £820,000 budget. The combination of the SPS Envirowall system, the modern aluminium curtain walling, and the new internal glass wall resulted in:
- A significantly more durable and resilient building exterior.
- A drastic reduction in future maintenance requirements due to the through-coloured finish and robust materials.
- A transformed, modern aesthetic that enhances the building’s appeal and performance for Lenta Letting Agents and their tenants.
This project stands as a testament to effective material selection, collaborative design, and efficient project execution in the commercial sector.
